At Orical, we believe Finnish Lapphunds truly thrive on a fresh food diet rather than kibble. Kibble is a highly processed product that often contains fillers, preservatives, and ingredients that don’t support optimal long-term health. Lappies, with their clever minds and generally lower food requirements, benefit greatly from nutrient-dense, natural meals that keep them in peak condition without excess.
Our approach to nutrition
Puppies:
All our puppies are first raised on Lyka Pet Food, a lightly cooked, human-grade fresh food option made here in Australia. Lyka is nutritionally balanced by vets, portioned for each dog, and designed to be as close as possible to a whole food diet while still being convenient for families. We’ve found that starting our puppies on Lyka gives them an excellent nutritional foundation and helps new owners transition easily into fresh feeding.
Adults:
As they grow, our dogs transition onto a homemade raw diet, prepared with a careful balance of proteins, grains, and natural supplements. This includes:

Our homemade raw food take home packs
You can purchase our homemade raw food, which is the same fresh mix our puppies and adults eat here every day.
It’s made from chicken meat, bone and organs minced, cooked oats, hemp seed oil, turmeric, kelp, alfalfa and brewers yeast.
We portion it into flat, freezer-friendly 500 g bags and sell it in 10 kg packs.
Store in the freezer and defrost one bag in the fridge the day before you need it.
