Welcome to the Orical Adoption Journey
At Orical Kennels, we believe adopting a Finnish Lapphund is the beginning of a lifetime partnership, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way. Our adoption process ensures that each puppy finds a loving, suitable home, and that you feel confident and supported from the moment you inquire to the moment they walk through your door...and beyond.
1. Explore and Connect
-

Are you interstate, or prefer a chat first?

2. Application and Matching
-
We carefully review all applications to ensure we're placing our puppies into loving, prepared homes. This is about making sure a Finnish Lapphund is truly right for you, and that the puppy is the perfect match for your family and lifestyle. We work with you to give you advice and recommendations and match you with the puppy most suited to your family and lifestyle.
3. Reservation & Payment Structure
-
Once matched, you reserve your puppy with a deposit ($2,000 upon litter birth confirmation). The remaining balance is due when your puppy reaches 7 weeks of age. We offer flexible payment options, including direct bank transfer, credit card, Handypay, Afterpay and Ezidebit, so you can choose what works best for your family.
4. Puppy Preparation & Early Updates
-
Stay Connected from day one
While your puppy grows in our care, you’ll receive weekly updates via email, complete with adorable photos, videos, and progress notes. All this lives in a shared Drive folder alongside your puppy's Super Puppy Program chart. -
Visit the Nursery
At around 6 weeks old, you're invited to come meet your puppy, their mum, and siblings, a beautiful moment to build those early memories. -
At 7 weeks of age we conduct temperament assessments on each puppy, which assist us in placing them with families that are most suited to them.
-
Our puppies depart for their new homes at 8 weeks of age.
-
You can pick up your puppy from our Picton (Sydney) home, or we can fly your puppy to you interstate.

8. Are You Ready?
Welcoming a puppy means a big commitment, but one filled with joy. Before you apply, ask yourself:
-
Do I have the time, patience, and space?
-
Am I ready for daily training, socialisation, grooming, and care for the next 15+ years?
-
Do I have secure fencing, financial stability, and a supportive environment?
-
Am I prepared for puppy energy, teething, chewing, and growing through milestone stages?
If the answer is yes—then you’re more than ready. You’re about to give a Finnish Lapphund a wonderful, loving life—and start one for yourself, too.
