Lappies on the Move: Backpacking Trial Success

This past weekend, our Orical crew laced up our boots, packed the trail snacks, and set out for something we look forward to every year — the official backpacking trials! These events are all about testing teamwork, stamina, and spirit, and we couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere. Hosted by the Siberian Husky Club of NSW, run at Kowen State Forest in the ACT, and judged by the wonderful Mr Mervin Turner, who travelled all the way up from Victoria, it was truly a great weekend.

We are so grateful to the club for putting on such a fantastic, friendly, and well organised event💛. And of course, a huge thank you to Mr Turner for giving his time and expertise. Without passionate clubs and dedicated judges, these opportunities simply wouldn’t exist, and it means so much to us to be able to get out and work our dogs in such a supportive environment.

🐕‍🦺 A Weekend Full of Lappie Fun

On Saturday, we hit the trail with Arne, Dazzle, Romeo, Moose, Sprinkle, and Glitter leading the way. It was also such a joy to catch up with Tahvo and Saint (and their wonderful humans!) who travelled up from Victoria to join the trial. 💫 Seeing our Orical family travelling, participating, and celebrating together is always so heartwarming. We were also delighted to see Rodeo and her human — her enthusiasm and sparkle on the trail were a highlight.

On Sunday, we swapped the line-up and took Romeo, Moose, Ukko, Sophie, Sprinkle, and Glitter for another big adventure. The weather was just right on both days — not too hot, not too cold 🌤️ — making conditions perfect for the dogs to shine. Their wagging tails, eager steps, and happy faces reminded us exactly why we love taking part in these kinds of events.

🌟 Looking Ahead

For us, backpacking trials are about so much more than titles. They’re a chance to strengthen the bond between handler and dog, to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, and to connect with our community of like-minded dog lovers. 🥾🐶

A heartfelt thank you again to the Siberian Husky Club of NSW. We are already excited for the next adventure and we can’t wait to see even more Lappies on the trail with their packs, proud smiles, and wagging tails.
