🌿 Life Among Nature at Orical

We are truly blessed here at Orical to live surrounded by nature. Alongside our dogs, horses, ponies, and chickens, our property is also home to a wonderful array of native wildlife. Kangaroos graze quietly through the paddocks, echidnas wander past on their important daily missions, and wombats leave their unmistakable night time signatures behind.
One very special native animal we cherish is our resident Bower Bird.
At this time each year, he returns faithfully to the same spot to begin construction on his remarkable nest; an elaborate “avenue” bower, carefully built and meticulously decorated with blue treasures. Watching his nest take shape is something we all look forward to, as are the inevitable trials and tribulations that come with his grand design.

This year alone, his hard work has been flattened twice, most likely by passing kangaroos, yet each time he has swiftly and determinedly rebuilt, undeterred and focused on his mission. We must admit, we sometimes lend a helping hand by donating a few blue items of our own, just to assist him in creating the most impressive display possible to attract the most beautiful lady friend.
He’s a shy little fellow and hard to spot, often scuttling off quickly into the surrounding bushes when he senses movement. But even when we only see the evidence of his work, we all feel we know him so well.

Sharing our home with so many animals, both domestic and wild, is something we truly treasure. We live within their world, following their natural cycles and seasons, and cherish being able to witness it all each day.
